The scale of the thing was absolutely unbelievable. How could something like this form naturally?
Bringing back a geological sample was one of the main scientific objectives of the mission. The kerbonauts report it was a ver stony material, very similar to, well, stone. Further analysis back in Kerbin would determine its precise chemical composition.
