Surface Operations

The first task was to gather mineral samples from the surface of Kerbin. Aided by the buggy, Jeb and Bob set out to a nearby rock and collected the samples.

Having completed that scientific objective, the kerbonauts departed towards the landing site of the Duna Express spacecraft, located more than 15 km away, ...

... while Bill stayed behind running science experiments inside the Ares lander.

Roving over the surface at over 60 km/h, the trip took about 25 minutes.

The kerbonauts inspected the systems of the weather-battered lander and replaced the power unit.

Having completed the secondary objective of the mission, they returned to their temporary base on the surface of Duna.
